Inspiration Station
- The American businessman was at the pier of a small coastal Mexican village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large yellow-fin tuna. The American complimented the Mexican on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them. The Mexican replied only a little while. The American then asked why didn't he stay out longer and catch more fish? The Mexican said he had enough to support his family's immediate needs. The American then asked, "but what do you do with the rest of your time?" The Mexican fisherman said, "I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take siesta with my wife, Maria, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play guitar with my amigos, I have a full and busy life, senor."
The American scoffed, "I am a Harvard MBA and could help you. You should spend more time fishing and with the proceeds buy a bigger boat, with the proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats, eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to a middleman you would sell directly to the processor, eventually opening your own cannery. You would control the product, processing and distribution. You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City, then LA and eventually NYC where you will run your expanding enterprise."
The Mexican fisherman asked, "But senor, how long will this all take?"
To which the American replied, "15-20 years." "But what then, senor?"
The American laughed and said that's the best part. "When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich, you would make millions."
"Millions, senor? Then what?"
The American said, "Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take siesta with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your amigos." ~ author unknown
Intuitive Consulting Success Stories
During the past 15 years there have been numerous success stories in both Corporate America and Government Agencies from utilizing my Intuitive Consultations. Here is a small sample:
Telecom Company
I was asked to join an important technical meeting scheduled to resolve a problem that could be costly, as well as a lead to a significant slip in the schedule. Different Technical Experts gave their perspectives on the problem with various possible solutions. The group finally converged on an agreed upon solution from one Technical Expert. I intuitively realized that everyone completely misunderstood the solution the Technical Expert was expressing, but all assured me that they understood correctly. After the meeting I spoke to the Division Head who had also attended the meeting. I asked that we speak to the Technical Expert to review the agreed upon resolution. Once we did this, the Division Head finally realized that everyone had misunderstood. If this misunderstanding had not been caught in time, it would have cost the company twice as much in both time and money. Executive Management was grateful for my intuitive counseling and tactful redirection.
International IT Company
A client company was rolling out a corporate-wide change to the computer support provided to its employees, which required a degree of change by its employees. The corporation wanted to maintain a culture of obtaining voluntary change, as opposed to ordering change, which would foster resistance and ill will. A small percentage of the employees refused the voluntary change requested by management, despite several months of meetings designed to obtain their voluntary cooperation. I was asked to work with them to persuade the employees to agree to join in the corporate changes. Since these employees were located all over the globe, I met with each employee by telephone conference for 15-30 minutes each, using my intuitive abilities to lead the discussion and learn why they resisted the change. I addressed their concerns during our discussion, which led them all to voluntarily agree to implement the company’s program change. Following this swift resolution, the company expressed its regret that it had not requested my help sooner, because it would have saved the expense of several months of work that had been subverted by the resistant employees’ failure to implement its plan and all the countless unproductive meetings!
International Manufacturing Company
There were two divisions of the same corporation, located on opposite sides of the US selling similar products. The corporation was set up such that each division was its own profit center, thus leading to competition and hostility between these two divisions for over two years. The result was that each division purchased and manufactured their components separately, rather than ordering them together for quantity discounts. This arrangement led to higher costs for the overall corporation. I was called in to ‘make’ the divisions ‘play nice’. Of course, I cannot ‘make’ anyone do anything. But, I did meet with each division individually, using my intuitive abilities to understand their concerns. After several conversations, both divisions realized that by putting aside their hostility they could reduce costs for their divisions, as well as for the overall corporation by purchasing and manufacturing their components together. This company regretted that it had not called me two years earlier, because it could have saved even more!
Classified Government Contracting Company
There were two employees with separate, unique skills that no else had. There was an important, time-critical project that needed these two employees to work together exclusively. Unfortunately, these employees could not be in the same room without yelling at the top of their lungs at each other. Management had reprimanded them, to no avail. I was called in to assure that these two employees would work together for the successful, on-time completion of this important project. With my intuitive abilities, I addressed the employees’ concerns and was able to convince them that they did not need to like each other in order to work together productively. Thankfully, I was brought in early, so the project was successfully completed and delivered on time!
There have been instances where a client company chose not to follow my intuitive advice. Here is an example:
Real Estate Company
A Real Estate Company asked for my input related to a potential land purchase that seemed like a ‘sure thing’ for a ’quick flip’ and easy profit, if they could purchase an additional small piece of adjoining land. My response to them was that they would have difficulty purchasing the additional small piece of land: either they wouldn’t be able to buy it, or it would cost A LOT more than was worthwhile. I also advised them that their identified ‘future buyers’ were looking for several key factors which this land does NOT have; therefore they will be uninterested in purchasing. I further let them know that if they went ahead with their plans, they would either make NO profit, or so little profit that they would feel it was not worth their time.
The Real Estate Company did NOT to take my input into consideration, enabling them to see whether my intuitive advice was accurate. To this day, the Real Estate Company has been unable to re-sell its original piece of land, and was never able to purchase the additional adjoining piece of land; therefore validating the accuracy of my intuitive advice.
